Annoucing our newest partnership…British Airways!

Today we are delighted to announce that we have British Airways as a supporter of The Great Reserve! As part of a portfolio of carbon credit purchases pulled together by our friends at CUR8 and Treeconomy, British Airways have purchased our ‘Sequoia Carbon Pending Units’, which will over the coming years deliver carbon removal within our Giant Sequoia trees planted in the UK.

This was no normal carbon credit purchase, instead taking a particularly innovative approach to nature based carbon removal. Our Sequoias take time to grow (like all trees), however they can live for thousands of years providing an ultra durable carbon sink. At the suggestion of Treeconomy they decided to stack our ultra durable carbon units on top of faster delivering but less durable alternative nature based credits.

This ‘Carbon Stacking’ strategy binds two individual credits together to make a single more robust credit, both fast delivering and durable. This enables buyers like British Airways to priortise nature based solutions, without compromising on the quality of the carbon removal.

We are excited to see this innovative strategy develop further in years to come and are delighted to see British Airways blazing the trail!
